Los Soprano fue una serie de HBO emitida hasta 2007, cuya trama se centraba en la familia mafiosa de Nueva Jersey. Pero pese a tratar asuntos como el crimen organizado y la violencia urbana, su narración estaba llena de dilemas éticos y reflexiones existenciales.

A su vez, sus complejos personajes lograron que millones de personas siguieran sus capítulos con fascinación semana a semana. Y aunque su historia salió del aire hace más de una década, se anunció una precuela en forma de película que llegará en 2020.

De acuerdo con el diario The Guardian, Los Soprano ostenta el primer lugar en el listado de los 100 mejores programas del siglo XXI. El segundo puesto es para la tira policial The Wire y el tercero para el drama Mad Men. Por otra parte, éxitos más recientes como Breaking Bad y Game of Thrones ocupan el quinto y séptimo lugar respectivamente.

Cabe destacar, según publica IndieHoy, que esa selección no solo incluye programas de ficción, sino también algunos reality shows como Big Brother, The Great British Bake Off y RuPaul’s Drag Race. En cuanto a producciones animadas, únicamente South Park consiguió ingresar al listado.
